NEW! Moxie U – A Visit to Clyde Steadman’s Studio
Clyde Steadman | Ability: All
Visit the studio of ASLD painting instructor Clyde Steadman. How does he work up
a bigger painting from smaller sketches? How many easels does one painter need?
How should you organize your workspace? How do you keep a studio cat off your
palette? What still life material should you keep on hand? How many brushes are too
many? Learn the answers to all these questions, and sample homemade ice cream
while surrounded by the worlds largest collection of Clyde Steadman paintings.

NEW! Moxie U – A Visit to Mark Friday’s Studio
Mark Friday | Ability: All
Visit the Mark Friday World Headquarters and see where and how art is made.
Mark works in two very diverse media in his studio, printmaking and sculpture,
each medium utilizing separate tools and space requirements. To make assemblage
sculpture, a large supply of found materials in needed, so come take a peek at
Mark’s stacks and piles, bins and boxes of stuff he has collected for his work. Also,
see his set-up for making screen prints. In Mark’s 1000sq.ft. studio you will see
finished works, works in progress, and curious items yet to be transformed.

NEW! Moxie U – Visit the Studio of Lauri Lynnxe Murphy
Lauri Lynnxe Murphy | Ability: All
There are few studios in town where you will find traditional painting and sculpting
materials and a diverse array of fascinating found objects and strange junk alongside
snails, microscopes, and natural honeycomb. ASLD instructor Lauri Lynnxe Murphy
has one of the most diverse practices around, identifying as a bio artist who
collaborates with nature as well as a sculptor working with everything from fiberglass
to wool in her Five Points studio that doubles as a makeshift home. Come visit for a
tour of the studio that some have called a “cabinet of curiosities” and a peek inside
the tiny house she is building from scratch for her project, The Mayday Experiment,
and learn everything you ever wanted to know about tiny houses, environmental
activism, and the language of materiality.

Kim Harrell | Ability: All
Did you ever wonder what an art silversmith/jewelry studio looks like? Here is your
chance to wander ASLD jewelry instructor Kim Harrell’s studio to see what it takes.
Kim prides herself on her minimalist approach to making and you will be amazed
to see how she does so much with so little! Surrounded by glass cabinets displaying
her tableware and jewelry, you will see what projects she is working on, look through
her sketchbooks, check out her art book library and her collection of inspirational
imagery and found objects. Kim will show you the materials she uses before they are
formed into precious jewelry or tableware along with the tools of the trade.

Viviane Le Courtois & Christopher R. Perez | Ability: All
Visit Processus, a shared studio space started in 2015 by Viviane Le Courtois and
Christopher R. Perez. Discover works in progress and the place where things are made.
Viviane Le Courtois creates sculpture, etchings, installations and participatory projects
with a wide range of found, collected and grown materials. Christopher R. Perez
creates ambrotypes, silverprints and platinum palladium. Learn how both incorporate
process, experimentation and interactions with people into their artistic practice.

Dea Shea | Ability: All
Visit ASLD instructor Dea Shea in her working metal art, steel sculpture and welding
studio. View finished pieces and works in progress, along with the equipment,
machinery and tools used to create interior wall hangings and exterior free standing
sculptures. Discuss processes she uses to form, weld, and patina various pieces.
