Whether functional or purely sculptural in form, the ceramic arts require a commitment to process. Once the "craft" is learned in hand building or throwing techniques, every artist can take a giant leap, transforming their ceramics into fine art. Because of the involved process. FEATURED CLASSES:
Introduction to Ceramic Forms: Wheel Throwing & Hand-Building
Cathy Avram Ability: Beginner
Are you interested in ceramics, but don’t know where to begin? In this class, build a basic understanding of ceramic art forms through a variety of skills and techniques. You will be guided through the basics of hand-building, wheel throwing, surface texture and finishing techniques.
Monthly ongoing | Wednesdays, 6–9 pm | Jan 6–May 26
$110 per month | Materials: $15 per bag of clay; $20 per bag of porcelain | Lab fee: $15 per month

Patina Finishes for Clay Sculpture
Andi Mascarenas Ability: All Levels
Expand your creative possibilities with interesting finishes. This workshop combines discussion, exploration, and application of patinas for fired clay sculptures. You will be introduced to the Fonton system, which uses a bronze, copper and brass metal base application with oxide, dye and ferric nitrate patinas.
3-week workshop | Wednesdays, 9 am–12:30 pm | May 5–19
$90 for 3 weeks | Materials: $10 | Register by 4/30
