Acrylics and Collage
Michael Gadlin  Ability: All Levels
Spend a day exploring the variety of techniques that are available
when working with acrylics, including glazing, achieving depth of color, and combining acrylics with other materials, textures, and collage elements. You will leave this workshop with a broader view of acrylics and how they can be used with other media and techniques to achieve interesting results.

Introduction to Watercolor
Rick Brogan  Ability: Beginner
Wild about watercolor, but don’t know where to start? Get your feet (and brushes) wet in this one-day class covering the basics of watercolor. After a preliminary introduction to materials, the class will include exercises involving wet-in-wet, dry brush, masking, sponging, and spattering. You will also learn how to start a painting.

Painting Denver's Landmarks
Don Sahli  Ability: Intermediate to Advanced
Working on location in the historic neighborhood surrounding the school, students will produce field studies, relating and simplifying the complex landscapes and buildings into simple color spots. Students will learn to use the tools of value, color and temperature, form, light and shadow, design and composition to quickly capture the essence of the scene. Don will provide hands-on guidance and instruction in how to apply these tools to the unique challenge of painting on location.

Understanding Color
Andrea Kemp  Ability: Beginner to Intermediate
Whether you are a beginning artist or want to push the boundaries of your work, this four-day workshop will provide you with a greater understanding of color. You will explore all aspects of color by breaking it down to its rawest form. By examining the nature of this powerful element, you will learn to direct your color palette rather than have it direct you.

Writing the Brush: The Painterly Path

Explore new and old ways to glide, wiggle, and dance your brush as you directly observe your immediate world. Practice brushwork, mark-making, purposeful calligraphy, wordless writing, and painterly painting.
