Painting
Become technically proficient in watercolor, acrylic, oil or egg tempera.

Whether you prefer classical, representational, abstract or contemporary art, each painting you create will lead you to finding your own personal aesthetic.

FEATURED CLASSES:

Experimentation in Paint: A Dialogue Between Inner and Outer
Jeff Wenzel  Ability: Intermediate to Advanced
Experiment with different aspects of abstraction through a dialogue between the outer world and inner-felt reality. Working from still-life and the figure, we will move through a series of open-ended exercises as we explore various formal elements (line, shape, color, composition, etc.) and learn how to use these in a personal exploration of the motif. Risk and play will be encouraged. Special Note: Drawing and some painting experience is required.
Monthly ongoing  |  Thursdays, 9 am–12 pm  |  Jan 7–May 27  |  $123 per month

Introduction to Acrylics on Paper
Peggy Morgan-Stenmark  Ability: Beginner to Intermediate
If you want to try acrylics but aren’t sure how to get started, this workshop is for you. Learn the unique properties that allow acrylics to be used either as washes, like watercolors, or more opaquely, like oils. Combine these techniques to create paintings that have both transparent and opaque areas — the best of both worlds. Explore both realistic and abstract styles as you play with this fun and exciting medium.
8-week workshop  |  Mondays, 9 am–12:30 pm  |  Apr 5–May 24  |  $220 for 8 weeks  |  Register by 4/8

Plein Aire Painting with Watercolor
Peggy Morgan-Stenmark  Ability: Beginner to Intermediate
Step out of the studio and into the field in this class designed to help you become comfortable painting en plein aire with watercolors. We will discuss supplies, gear and the basics of setting up for painting outdoors. While on location, you will learn how to choose subject matter, create a strong composition and select color to reflect a specific mood. Critiques will be given at the end of each painting session.
7-week workshop  | Wednesdays, 1–4:30 pm  |  Apr 14–May 26  |  $200 for 7 weeks  |  Register by 4/10

We're flexible! You can register and pay for only the classes you plan to attend each month. CLICK HERE to see our class fee schedule. Valid for ongoing classes. Workshops are a set fee and cannot be pro-rated.
