Animator as Poet
Jeff Jurich Ability: All Levels
The animator and the poet can each use their art to help reconnect
the viewer with some part of our shared human experience. In this class we will approach animation as a personally expressive art form. Each student will create a three-line poem, record it for use as a soundtrack, then each line will be brought to life and movement with a different animation technique. A DVD of everyone’s work will be created by the final class.

Art and Music: Exploring the Relationship Between Listening and Creating Art
Homare Ikeda & Marc Shulgold Ability: All Levels
In this innovative, ongoing workshop, you will be guided into an exciting world of listening, seeing, visualizing and creating. Each session will feature a provocative discussion led by Marc Shulgold who will use recorded examples and slides to reveal the age-old connection between music and the visual arts. Then, with the guidance and wisdom of Homare Ikeda, find inspiration from musical selections that will allow you to create art with a new sense of joy and purpose. Let the sounds of a single flute, a charming Mozart concerto, an other-worldly Beethoven string quartet or a towering Bruckner Symphony carry you and your art to unimagined places, allowing you to create with a new sense of joy and purpose.
