ASLD hosts a variety of exhibitions at our historic Grant Street location and in partnership with various creative spaces throughout the community. Representing the diversity of the thriving Denver arts community, our exhibitions also provide an opportunity to examine current trends and purchase original fine art from faculty, students, and celebrated artists from across the U.S.

Man's Best Friend: Animal Portraiture

Encaustic: Contemporary Works | October 12 – November 18, 2018

Encaustic painting is an ancient technique, dating back to the Greeks where heat is used throughout the process, from melting the beeswax and varnish to fusing the layers of wax. In this invitational group show, ASLD invited artists who work with, or incorporate, encaustic and/or wax mediums, including cold wax and mixed mediums. ASLD held ‘public opinion’ voting the night of the opening reception for fan favorites. Winners: Alane Holsteen, Tuke, and Julia Martin.

Artists’ Book Cornucopia IX | August 24 – September 28, 2018

Ninth in an annual series of international exhibitions, this book arts exhibit showcased a broad range of work, from traditional codex, printed letterpress, to sculptural objects and one-of-a-kind editions. Guest juror Sha Towers and guest curator and ASLD faculty, Alicia Bailey, engaged viewers with a rare opportunity to examine these exquisite books up close.
