Block printing is one the oldest printmaking techniques and has been in use for over two thousand years! Historically this was done by carving into wooden blocks to create reproducible illustrations, but we will use alternative surfaces like styrofoam, rubber and linoleum to create our images. Students will learn the basics of carving and printing onto both paper and fabric! As we go through the week, we will explore stamps, repeating patterns and multi block images as well as some other printmaking techniques to create unique art pieces. Some things students might make would be wrapping paper, individual images that can be framed, fabric patches and cards/journals. Come learn and explore the world of block printing!
All supplies are included in the materials fee and will be provided at ASLD.
