General Information
Registration will open for all classes in the entire 3-month session on the first Tuesday at 7AM (Wednesday for Ceramics classes), one month before the session starts. Registration for the Summer session opens on May 6 (May 7 for Ceramics).
• In the event of cancellation, we will notify students and instructors no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class.
• Saturday & Sunday building hours will be 9:30AM-5:30PM.
• Friday Teen Studio Night this summer will be held from 5:30-8:30PM
ASLD is proud to offer classes and other art experiences throughout the Denver metro area. We’ve expanded beyond our original location to serve more art lovers in different neighborhoods! Always check the location of your class before registering.

In 2025, we moved into a space in Englewood’s CityCenter as part of their CitySpark project to reengage the neighborhood. The Englewood Branch includes classroom space shared by ASLD and Access Gallery, and artist studios managed by RedLine Contemporary Art Center.

ASLD has been partnering with the PACE Center since 2018 to bring visual arts classes to artists of all ages.
Office Hours are 8:30 AM–6:30 PM, Monday–Thursday, and 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, Friday–Sunday.
The following changes to the hours will take effect for the Summer Session:
• Saturday & Sunday building hours will be 9:30am-5:30pm.
There are two small parking areas, one to the south and one to the north of ASLD’s property. Parking is first-come, first-served at all times.
Free street parking is also available. Please pay attention to adjacent parking signs and restricted times during street sweeping the first week of each month, April through November.

You may purchase your membership in one of three ways:
In person – Stop by our registration office in Denver at 200 Grant Street, and work with our staff to open an account and start your membership. You may purchase a membership with credit card, cash, or check.
Over the phone – Call our registration office at 303-778-6990 x0 to work with our staff to open an account and start your membership. You may purchase your membership using a credit card.
Online (Recommended) –
- For NEW members: Go to the Login page and select “Create an Account.” Follow the on-screen instructions to fill in your name and contact information. Be sure to save your username and password in a place you can remember. Finish setting your preferences under the “My Account” tab.
- For returning members: Login using the username and password you set up for your online account.
Please note — ASLD does not store usernames or passwords, and we cannot retrieve them for you. If you have lost or forgotten your username or password, please follow steps to RESET PASSWORD.
- Add your desired membership option to the shopping cart and follow checkout instructions to pay using a credit card.

All of ASLD’s activities are supported by membership fees, tuition, donations and grants to provide an environment for world-class instruction by professional working artists, cultural engagement, and community outreach throughout the Denver Metro area.
All membership levels include:
- Discounted tuition for classes

- Access to use open painting/drawing studios (excludes Ceramics Studio, Print Room and Fiber Arts Lab)

***Youth with an active youth membership or are on a household membership are elligible to enroll in KidART camp or summer Teen Studio programming.

Classes & Workshops
Use the SEARCH feature to help narrow classes by day, time, instructor, media, etc. Click the link on the class title to view more information about the instructor, class objectives, required materials, and ability level.
For more personalized help, please call the registration office at 303-778-6990 x0 to talk with any of our registration staff, who can answer questions and help you determine what types of classes meet your interests and ability level.
Yes! We offer full and partial need-based scholarships on a rolling basis. Visit the BIG HeART SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM page to learn who qualifies and to download an application form.
An apron, close-toed shoes, hair ties, and a refillable water bottle are helpful items to have in any ASLD class.
You can find specific requirements for class materials by checking what is listed under each class description online. We recommend searching for your class online to view the class description and required materials list. If no materials are listed, then everything will be supplied for you in class or explained to you by the instructor during your first class.
Often, as the start date for your class approaches, instructors will send an email with instructions or special materials to have prepared before class begins. Please make sure you check your spam and junk folders to be sure you don’t miss any messages.
The minimum age for adult classes is 18.
Yes! We offer ongoing classes for youth ages 6–17 in the Fall (August–December) and Spring (January–May). Summers are filled with week-long KidART CAMPS & TEEN STUDIOS.
Friday Teen Studio Night this summer will be held from 5:30-8:30PM
Youth must have an active youth membership or be on a household membership in order to enroll in KidART camp or summer Teen Studio programming.
To find youth classes currently being offered, go to the the SEARCH page. Navigate to the “Medium” drop-down menu to find “Youth and Teen.”
If your class has been cancelled for any reason, one of our registration staff members will call to notify you no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class, and we will send an email notification to announce the cancellation. You may also call the registration office at 303-778-6990 x0 to speak with someone regarding cancellations.
If ASLD decides to close due to inclement weather, one of our registration staff members will call to notify you. You may also call the registration office at 303-778-6990 x0, or check ASLD.org, to learn about inclement weather closures.
Please visit the HOLIDAY SCHEDULE page to see dates that ASLD will be closed. Be sure to also check open studio closures during weeks when no classes are in session.

- Students enrolling for a workshop are required to pay for all scheduled classes at the time of registration. Workshops cannot be prorated.
- Membership is required for a few of our programs, such as Open Figure Study and Youth Summer Camps.
- The minimum age for adult courses is 18. Some instructors may allow students aged 16-17 to participate with a waiver.
Guide to Student Ability Levels
Beginner
Students have limited or no experience in the fundamentals of art or in a specific art medium.
Intermediate
Students have a good foundation in the fundamentals of art including the principles of design and composition, and a level of proficiency in the technical aspects of a given medium.
Advanced
Students have technical mastery of a given medium and the fundamentals of art, and are interested in cultivating and exploring a personal aesthetic.
All Levels
Students from experienced beginners to advanced will have individualized instruction within the given structure and definition of the class. A range of student abilities will be represented.

Unfortunately, gift certificates are not available at this time.
Instead, you are welcome to purchase a gift membership or gift registration for a friend or relative. Please call or visit the registration office to work with our registration staff to process this gift purchase.
