This course will teach you to define your painting in terms of light, shapes and colors and then how to bring that subject to life on the canvas. My purpose is not to teach you to paint like me, but to help you find and develop your own personal vision. Every artist has his or her own unique way of seeing the world.
Materials: oils or acrylics, assorted colors and brushes, palette, a canvas at least 16”x20”; for oils—solvent and Alkyd.
At least one photo of a subject you want to paint.
I recommend working with oils or acrylics. I suggest a basic selection of colors—red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple, brown and a large tube of titanium white. Bring a palette pad for mixing your colors, and at least one palette knife. Bring a selection of brushes, large to small. Bring at least one medium/large jar for cleaning your brushes and a roll of paper towels.
For oils I use Gamsol, an odorless mineral spirit, to clean my brushes. For all brushes I use an odorless dish detergent for final cleaning.
Bring an apron or large painting shirt to keep your clothes clean.
