This class is about fast expressive immersion into elements of design:
students will be encouraged to loosen up, in terms of body and painting style.
The first class will focus on value and how it creates the overall story of any work.
We will paint first from a model doing quick poses and only using black and white. This is to help the painter to not overthink and lay the brushstrokes intuitively, gradually moving on to painting from longer model poses and incorporating color and then also exploring shape, texture, edges and gradation.
What to expect:
A brief lecture or demo on a design element. First week: dark and light patterns.
Objective: to help the student see the overall big picture.
The exercise and fielding questions.
Group and individual constructive critiques.
