HOT ART: Basic Encaustic Techniques

This two day, hands-on encaustic workshop is designed to give you an overview of the encaustic process and allow you to try various tools and techniques. We will briefly discuss history, safety and materials, then dive into making encaustic medium and paint, prepping substrates, and applying wax. You will learn: to fuse with heat, layering, work with texture, mark-making and transfer imagery. This is two jam-packed days. Everyone will go home with art and an in-depth understanding of encaustic medium, process and possibilities.
