This two-day workshop is designed to give participants an overview of the encaustic process and allow hands-on art making experience with various tools and techniques. We will briefly discuss history, safety, materials and equipment. The instructor will demo techniques, and the class will participate in, making our own encaustic medium and paint, applying and fusing the medium, glazing, mark making, adding texture, additive and subtractive techniques, stencils etc. Participants will learn multiple image transfer techniques, and explore the use of additional art materials that work well with encaustic; foils, tissue, graphite, pan pastels etc All tools and some materials will be provided. Participants will take home finished art!
