Week 1: Look at examples of various types of color woodcuts. Each participant designs the concept of their color reduction block print. Design color separation concept, and make initial cuts.
Week 2: Print initial color. Make secondary cuts, print second color. Make third cuts.
Week 3: Print third color, Make 4th cuts, print 4th color
Week 4: Finish print series. If finished, discussion of matting and exhibiting the print

Participants will be introduced to color woodcut prints, and the various ways to make them. We will examine hand-colored prints, multi-block, “white line”, and reduction-block prints. Each participant will make a reduction-block print, using a limited palette of color printing inks. The materials fee will cover the cost of the woodblock, paper, ink, and the use of “loaner” knives and gouges.
