Get started with the fundamentals of watercolor painting, learning how to choose the right papers, paints and brushes. Study the color wheel, practice mixing colors, and learn about value as you explore techniques in direct painting, wet-on-wet, dry brush, and washes. You will be painting still-lifes by the end of the class.
Please bring:
-Sketchbook or Drawing Paper
-Watercolor Block or Watercolor Paper (140 lb. cold press paper)
-Backing Board for watercolor paper unless it is on a watercolor block
-Pencils (Medium #2 and Soft #6 or #7), along with a kneaded eraser
-Palette w/ cover and Brushes (plastic palette is fine)
-Water Container
-Spray Bottle
-Tissues / Paper Towels
-Paint (my preferred colors are as follows): cadmium red, yellow ochre, cobalt violet, alizarin
crimson, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow, burnt sienna, raw umber, olive green, cerulean blue,
cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, mineral violet
