Many Media Sketchbooks

Beginning with the Basics: An Intro to Tools, Techniques and Skills. Bind your own sketchbook and find an authentic entry point into making your own art. We will explore how to use a variety of artist-grade materials while practicing basics like life drawing, collage and lots of free drawing/painting. The Elements of Art and the Principles of Design will be explained and practiced. Quotes from famous creatives will be used to set a curious, non-judgmental mood in class that allows participants to discover how enjoyable it can be to wander and explore their own art making. This class could make it easier to jump into other classes at ASLD, having some understanding of art materials, art vocabulary, and how to think ourselves back to joy when personal expectations crop up.
