Learn the basics of mixing and applying ink, registration and using a press. Artists will be certified to use the print room independently after this class.
Week 1: Print room protocols, Simple B&W prints with ghosts
Week 2: Setting press, color mixing, registration
Week 3: More color and registration, resist effects, layering
Week 4: Sampler of different upcycle relief, drypoint techniques, prepping for framing
All supplies will be provided but optional only- if you have them, or would like to try:
Printing paper, such as Rives BFK or Lightweight; Arches Cover or Text Wove; Arnheim or Canson Edition. 1 or less is sufficient for each session. Update: Arnheim also works great for Akua inks and is a cheaper alternative
Akua water soluble inks also acceptable, but the demos will be in oil based ink. And they cannot be mixed with oils.
Small tubes color oil based ink (limited amount of donated color inks available to try before you buy)
Small (1-6") soft rubber brayers Example: Speedball (The League has some available)
Painting shirt or Apron, Nitrile gloves (League has some aprons and gloves)
Paper towels or cotton rags with a plastic bag to take used ones home with you)
