Oils can be an intimidating medium, especially if you have never used them before. This workshop is designed for the absolute beginner with no previous experience, but if you already paint in oils, this workshop can be a good refresher. This is a hands-on workshop in which you will be painting and hopefully by the time the workshop is done you’ll have the confidence and the necessary knowledge to go out on your own and start creating with this wonderful medium. The main objective of the class is to have a stronger understanding on brushes, techniques, and starting an oil painting.
You will learn about materials including paints, brushes, painting surfaces, mediums and solvents, paint application, basic color theory, values, how to start a painting and more. On the second day bring a simple item to paint from, it can be a fruit, a vase, a tea cup, etc. Please no flowers.
