French houses with their timeless facades can be a rich source of inspiration for the artist - just think of Monet's famous pink and green home in Giverny. From a cozy stone cottage to a grand brick mansion, work with perspective and watercolor textural effects to bring the dwelling to life. Study how the symmetrical placement and scale of the classic double door and tall windows with quintessentially French wooden shutters give the abode character and personality. Add a touch of nature to the architecture learning to use loose brushwork and varied edges to paint flower-filled window boxes and ivy creeping up stone walls. Make yourself at home in a new creative way! Reference material provided. Introductory watercolor experience needed.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: In addition to developing skills using color, value, shapes, and edges, students will gain an understanding of perspective, texture and symmetry.
