Artists use the inherent mystery and anticipation of a road or path to pull the viewer into a painting. Work with developing the idea behind the route to determine whether the trail becomes the focal point or guides the eye through the scene. Whether depicting a diagonal or S curve composition, discover how using a road creates movement, depth and distance to enhance a sense of exploration and adventure. Perspective will be key to putting you on the right path. Where will you go on your painting quest? In addition to developing skills using color, value, shapes, and edges, students will understand the difference between focal point and center of interest and gain an awareness of composition designs.
