Materials will be provided with instruction to create a seven sided Ojo De Dios, or "God's Eye" Portal, with up to 5 different weaving patterns. Alongside weaving, Cal teaches about the spiritual significance of the ancient weavings and dives into how these weaving portals can connect us deeper to our ancestral lineages, the cosmos, and in meditation and healing. Traditionally found in Mexico, Peru, and India these weavings are for protection. This same pattern and weave can be found in many indigenous cultures around the globe.
Weaving is the ancient art of recognizing health and wholeness as the primary state, and overcoming the blockages of seemingly broken connections. Weavers are healers of the unbroken whole — connecting people and place through elegant tapestries of shared meaning and visions of a world that works for all.
First, we will go over the significance of these sacred objects and hold story and ceremony honoring our ancestors. We will connect our first dowel rods then second dowel rods, learning the basic weave. Then, we will dive into different weaving patterns and modalities.
