This course focuses on the alla prima (wet-on-wet) painting technique, which is an excellent way to start painting, improve one’s skills, or explore new methods of working with paint. Alla prima is a challenging but rewarding approach that allows students to paint directly, creating fresh, vibrant, and spontaneous artwork.

In addition to mastering this technique, students will dive into essential concepts such as color theory, color mixing, and how to create harmonious color relationships within their compositions. The course also places a strong emphasis on artistic composition , helping students understand how to arrange elements within their paintings to create balanced, dynamic, and engaging works of art.

By the end of the course, students will have gained a deeper understanding of color, learned how to paint directly and efficiently, and developed the skills necessary to create paintings that are dynamic, harmonious, and full of life. Students will also be able to:

Master the alla prima (wet-on-wet) painting technique: Learn how to paint directly, without waiting for layers to dry, allowing students to capture a fresh, vibrant, and lively approach to their work.

Understand color theory: Gain a solid understanding of color relationships, including primary, secondary, and complementary colors, and how to apply these concepts effectively in their artwork.

Mix colors with precision: Develop skills in mixing colors to achieve the desired tones, shades, and hues for various elements of the painting.

Create color harmony: Learn how to harmonize colors within a painting to achieve a balanced and cohesive composition.

Paint with confidence and speed: Learn how to work efficiently with the alla prima method, balancing speed and precision while maintaining quality in the painting.

Capture fresh, spontaneous energy: Understand how to preserve the liveliness of a painting by keeping it "fresh" through the wet-on-wet technique, allowing for dynamic brushstrokes and immediate expression.

Develop artistic composition : Learn the fundamental principles of composition, including balance, focal points, proportion, and perspective, and how to apply these concepts to create visually engaging and harmonious paintings.
