Weather elements enhance a landscape scene and all are exciting to the artist who attempts to capture the energy and activity of Mother Nature. Practically feel the sensory qualities of falling snow, pouring rain, blowing trees, and swirling mist working with wet-on-wet and subtle gradations to create a diffused atmosphere. To give visual life to nature's force and effects, practice directional brushwork, lifting and blotting techniques along with spattering, dripping, and splashing paint. To make the weather element appear like it is part of the scene, observation and timing will be essential as you learn to let water do the work. On this artistic adventure there is no such thing as bad weather! Reference material provided. Introductory watercolor experience needed.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: In addition to developing skills using color, value, shapes, and edges, students will gain an understanding of brushwork techniques, texture, and movement.
