No knitting experience necessary! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to use a French knitting spool and fine wire to create delicate, elegant drop earrings (or a pendant, necklace, ornament…) We’ll incorporate pearls, pebbles, or beads into the knitted forms to create an encased “peapod” effect, giving your jewelry a beautiful sense of movement, texture, and dimension.
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of French spool knitting with wire, basic jewelry construction techniques, and working with fine-gauge metals. You’ll also design and fabricate your own sterling silver ear wires, developing practical skills that add a professional, customized finish to your pieces.
By the end of the course, you will have built confidence handling wire and fine tools, gained an understanding of basic jewelry design principles, and created your own one-of-a-kind earrings. This class is ideal for beginners as well as experienced jewelry makers looking to expand their creative toolkit in a fun, approachable environment.
