Over the course of the week, students will walk and paint amongst the castle architecture and ruins in La Napoule’s historic gardens. The workshop will be taught by longtime ASLD instructor Andrea Kemp and will consist of both field painting and studio time. The aim of this workshop is to teach how to approach painting on location in a small format with an emphasis on creating thoughtful sketchbook studies. Kemp will fluctuate between using gouache, oils, and pencil. Aside from painting on location and studio critiques, students will also have the opportunity to view important art collections and tour the surrounding town and city.
