Animated Young Minds: A Celebration of Black Visual Artistry
In collaboration with Denver Film and Mile High Animation, we invite all youth, ages 11-18, to join us for a weekend full of workshops featuring top Black creators in animation and film. Learn animation tools and skills from industry professionals who have worked on Marvel, DC, and Disney films and characters: Bruce W. Smith, Shawn Martinbrough, Sonya Carey, and Coran Kizer Stone.
DESCRIPTION:
This course takes place in 4 workshops over a 2 day period, and can be accessed as a full package of 4 or a la carte. Each session will highlight a unique Black creator’s perspective in the animation and film industries while empowering young artists in the Denver community to learn new skills. Students will engage in tutorials created by Mile High Animation and presented by visual talents Bruce W. Smith, Shawn Martinbrough, Sonya Carey & Coran Kizer Stone. Using animation tools like Procreate, students will design a showcase piece following directives on the auditorium screen.
