Wednesday, February 11-Wednesday, February 18, 2026 | 8 days, 7 nights
Join ASLD Faculty Member Dennis Pendleton in the South of France for a painting adventure.
We will spend a week in Mandelieu-La Napoule, a small village outside of Nice, enjoying the French Riviera Spring. This time of year, the Mimosa trees are in bloom. The vibrant colors and amazing backdrop of the Château de la Napoule, the castle which will be our home base, will create a dramatic backdrop for sketching with watercolors.
Each day will begin with a group breakfast. Dennis will demonstrate in his sketchbook each day and then work with the students as they are drawing and painting. He will lead a variety of lessons and provide assignments to guide your sketchbook practice. The small work format will allow us to wander the area and experience our surroundings.
We’ll share home-cooked lunches together in the afternoon, prepared by ASLD staff, and then take time to venture out on our own for more sketching. We’ll reconvene in the early evenings for wine and a critique of the day’s work.
Dinners will be a combination of exploring local restaurants in town or cooking in the fully equipped Villa Marguerite kitchen. Two of the nights will be multicourse meals served in the château by the lovely staff chef.
