Altering found objects using oxidizing paints and patinas can add interest or continuity when creating compositions, plus something about metal imparts its own gravitas. We will be working with reactive copper, bronze or iron paints to make true verdigris and rust finishes on non-metal surfaces like wood, cardboard or plastic. We’ll also investigate easy faux metal finishes. Then we will use our “metallized” components along with other objects to create sculptural works of assemblage art.

About the Artist:

Michelle Lamb is a multi-disciplinary artist that has created several types of art, from sculpting small buttons molded for manufacturing to a 41′ wide x 7′ high  tall outdoor public art mural.  She has crafted a life-size carousel horse from scratch and conversely, has taken apart obsolete machinery, reassembling the parts into reliquaries. She also creates soft sculptures entirely opposite of her assemblage which is predominantly hard metals, woods and glass.
