Must have taken at least one precious metal clay class at ASLD or have previous experience working with precious metal clay.
Join us in this Advanced Techniques PMC Jewelry Workshop! We will explore making more involved projects, for example, captured glass cabochons, rings and more. PMC (Precious Metal Clay) is a specialized clay made from fine particles of metal (in this case silver), mixed with an organic binder and water. This allows it to be manipulated into various shapes and textures, similar to working with any clay. It is then fired in a ceramic kiln to burn out the organic material, leaving behind 99.9% pure sintered silver.
Day one artists will roll, texture, and form the precious metal clay. We will refine and prepare the clay for firing in the kiln.
Day two will be spent polishing and putting a patina on your jewelry.
Day three will be spent polishing and putting a patina on your jewelry made last week. We will use sterling silver findings and natural leather cord to complete our jewelry pieces into wearable works of art.
